Affordable IT Support for Nonprofits & Churches

Your organization exists to serve your community — not to troubleshoot technology. But when your network goes down, your donor database crashes, or a phishing email compromises your staff accounts, your mission suffers. Alara IT Solutions provides affordable, professional managed IT support and cybersecurity services specifically designed for nonprofits, churches, faith-based organizations, and community groups throughout the South Suburbs of Chicago.

We are a South Suburbs business ourselves. We were founded right here, we serve this community, and we believe that great technology should be accessible to organizations doing great work — not just big corporations with big budgets. We offer nonprofit-friendly pricing, flexible service tiers, and the same enterprise-grade expertise that larger organizations pay significantly more for.

Free IT Health Check for Nonprofits & Churches — No Cost. No Obligation.

Every nonprofit and faith organization we work with starts with a complimentary on-site IT Health Check. We assess your network security, device health, data backup, and cybersecurity risk — and give you a written report with honest, plain-language findings. We tell you what you need, what can wait, and what you can handle yourself.

Why Nonprofits & Churches Are Increasingly Targeted by Cybercriminals

Many nonprofit and faith leaders assume their organization is too small or too low-profile to attract a cyberattack. The reality is the opposite. Cybercriminals specifically target smaller organizations because they know that tight budgets often mean weak IT security — and the return on investment for an attacker is high.

Nonprofits and churches hold valuable data — donor financial information, grant records, member and congregation databases, payroll information, and in some cases sensitive case files for social service organizations. They also frequently process online payments for donations, event registrations, and programming fees. All of this makes them attractive targets.

Common technology challenges facing South Suburbs nonprofits and churches:

  • Outdated computers and operating systems with known security vulnerabilities

  • No formal data backup — a single hardware failure could destroy years of donor and program records

  • Shared passwords and no multi-factor authentication on email and financial accounts

  • Volunteer staff with personal devices connecting to your network — creating security gaps

  • Phishing emails targeting executive directors and finance staff to redirect donations or payroll

  • No cybersecurity training for staff or volunteers who handle sensitive information

  • Website vulnerabilities — outdated plugins and no monitoring for downtime or breaches

  • No IT support plan — technology issues handled reactively with no budget or strategy

Alara IT Solutions can help you build a secure, reliable technology foundation that lets your staff and volunteers focus on your mission — not on IT problems.

Frequently Asked Questions — IT Support for Nonprofits & Churches

Yes. Our Alara Essentials package starts at $299/month and is specifically designed for small organizations. We also offer the Alara Website Care standalone service at $99/month for organizations that just need their website kept secure and updated. Schedule a free IT Health Check and we will be honest about what you need and what you can skip.

We are a very small church with a tiny budget. Can you still help us?

We rely heavily on volunteers who use their own devices. Is that a security risk?

Yes — personal devices on your network can introduce significant security vulnerabilities. We can set up a separate volunteer network that isolates personal devices from your sensitive organizational data. We can also implement basic security policies for volunteer-owned devices that access organizational accounts.

We process online donations through our website. Are those transactions secure?

That depends on your current setup. During your free IT Health Check we assess your website security, payment processing configuration, and SSL certificate status. We also offer Alara Website Care which includes ongoing security monitoring and updates for your website.

Can you help us with Microsoft 365 for Nonprofits?

Absolutely. Microsoft offers Microsoft 365 at deeply discounted or free pricing for eligible nonprofits through TechSoup. We can help you apply for the program, set up your Microsoft 365 environment, configure email security, and manage your accounts on an ongoing basis.

We have a grant that requires us to document our data security practices. Can you help?

Yes. This is a common requirement in grant applications and compliance reporting. We can document your security practices, provide written descriptions of your IT environment, and help you implement the specific security controls your grant requires. Many of our Alara Complete clients include IT documentation in their grant reporting.

Our pastor or executive director handles all IT decisions. Do we need a formal IT plan?

Having a single person handle all IT decisions is one of the most common vulnerabilities in small nonprofits. A formal IT plan — even a simple one — protects your organization if that person is unavailable. We help you create a basic IT policy document and continuity plan as part of our Alara Managed and Complete packages.
